What is the difference between connecting an account and importing a file?

A connection keeps itself up to date — Finotaur reads new fills from your broker on its own. A CSV import is a snapshot: you export the file when you want your journal brought current.

My broker uses MetaTrader. Is it supported?

Almost certainly. Finotaur identifies your broker from your MetaTrader server, so the MetaTrader 5 connection reaches 431 brokers including IC Markets, Pepperstone, OANDA, XM and FTMO.

My broker is not listed anywhere. Can I still use Finotaur?

Yes. Export a CSV of your trade history from your broker and Finotaur will read it, whatever the broker. Tell us which broker it is and we will look at connecting it directly.

Does connecting my account let Finotaur place trades?

No. Connections are used to read your trade history so your journal fills itself. Where a broker offers read-only credentials, those are what Finotaur asks for.
